Description

Collards (Sukuma Wiki) seeds are high-quality seeds designed for growing robust, nutrient-rich collard greens. These seeds are specifically selected for their high germination rates, vigorous growth, and resilience, ensuring a bountiful harvest of fresh collard greens. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a novice, these seeds offer an easy and rewarding way to cultivate your own collard greens at home.

Features

  • Ensures a high percentage of seeds will sprout, leading to a more productive garden.
  • Seeds are free from genetically modified organisms, ensuring natural growth and development.
  • Selected from traditional and time-tested collard varieties known for their flavor and hardiness.
  • Bred to resist common pests and diseases, reducing the need for chemical interventions.
  • Suitable for a variety of climates and can be grown in garden beds, containers, or hydroponic systems.
  • Produces collards that are high in essential vitamins and minerals, offering significant health benefits.

Application

  • Sow seeds directly in the ground or start indoors in seed trays. Plant seeds about 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep in well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0 to 6.8.
  • Space seeds approximately 18 to 24 inches apart to allow ample room for growth.
  • Keep soil consistently moist until seeds germinate. After sprouting, water regularly, ensuring soil remains moist but not waterlogged.
  • Once seedlings have several true leaves, thin them to the strongest plants, ensuring proper spacing.
  • Use a balanced fertilizer to support healthy growth, especially during the early stages.

Storage

  • Store unused seeds in a cool, dry place. Keep them in an airtight container to maintain viability. Properly stored seeds can remain viable for up to 2-3 years.
  • Harvested collard greens can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. For longer storage, blanch the greens and freeze them.
